Ken Urker died at 34. What were the calls that "humiliated" him?

"You are a danger to yourself and others around you."
The Daily Mail says Ken Urker sent that text to Gypsy Rose Blanchard in September 2025. She had just taken a kitchen knife to the headboard of their bed.
Now Urker is dead at 34. And the Mail has the recording in which she describes it, in her own words.
What did Gypsy Rose say on the call?
The Mail obtained the recording from the Missouri Department of Corrections. She made the call to Amelia Bird, a friend who is still in prison.
Blanchard, 35, says she found a card that Urker allegedly wrote to an ex-girlfriend. She went out and drank vodka, tequila, rum and whiskey.
Then she says she came home and grabbed a knife. She says she stabbed the headboard and carved an insulting word into it.
She says she left Urker a note, and smashed a framed photo of the two of them. She says she threw the letters they wrote each other in prison into the air "like money."
She also says she cut up a blanket with scissors, sent angry texts and ran to her parents' place, "drunk as f**k."
That is her version, as played on the recording the Mail obtained.
What happened when Ken saw the damage?
On the call, Blanchard says Urker told her he had taken pictures of the headboard and the broken glass. She says he told her he was filing for sole custody of their daughter and that she was not to be around Aurora alone.
She also said on the call that people close to her told her she had scared him. "You know what you were in prison for," she repeated, adding that her history "freaks people out."
She said she regretted what she did and was trying to get professional help. She told Bird she did not know where she and Urker stood.
Urker's sister Autumn, 31, says they got back together. She says she only found out about the incident in February.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office told the Mail it knew about the headboard incident but had no record of anyone reporting it. An officer added that charges would not be filed in such a case, because only property was damaged.

What does the video show?
The Mail also has a clip of an angry Blanchard shredding a blanket while filming herself. A photo caption adds that she cuts up a carpet.
She yells through tears: "This is how I feel about you! Lies, lies, lies!" The Mail says she sent the video to Urker.
Autumn says she saw the footage and grew "nervous" for her brother and her niece. She says she warned him: "That's dangerous, Kenan, and it's going to escalate."
He brushed it off, she claims, saying it was old. She says she then spoke about it on social media, which only widened the rift with her brother.
Why does his sister say the leaked calls humiliated him?
This is the claim at the heart of the Mail's story.
The paper has logs of thousands of calls Blanchard made to Urker and other pen pals between 2016 and 2023. Autumn says an anonymous blogger started to leak the calls online.
"He was quite humiliated with some of the phone calls that had come out," she said. She also says he "started listening" to the calls, and that is when "he was really done."
The Mail has seen texts that Autumn says are from her brother. They show him saying he carried a gun because of "death threats" and being "doxxed."
"He had to sleep with a gun every night," she said. She is clear that he did not carry it because he feared Blanchard. It was because of the online trolls.
What do we know about how he died?
Very little is official.
The Mail says police found Urker's body on 1 October with syringes, a spoon, a holstered handgun and a brown powdery substance nearby. The autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending. No one has been charged.
Blanchard has publicly said she thinks he died of an apparent overdose because of cyberbullying. She started a petition called Kenan's Law in his name to fight online harassment.
Autumn says the family does not think he took his own life. "The narrative being pushed is suicide, and that is a very hurtful narrative," she told the Mail. She said she thinks it may have been an accident, speculating that he could have taken something laced with fentanyl.

Is his family split over Gypsy Rose?
According to Autumn, yes. Public family rifts like this one can get ugly fast, as in the Pitt family quote row.
Some relatives invited Blanchard to the viewing and the funeral. Autumn says her mother did it out of fear that bad blood could cost the family access to Aurora, who is 1.
"We have to be nice to Gypsy or she won't let her see Aurora," Autumn says her mother told her, in tears. The Mail has asked Urker's mother, Raina Williams, for comment.
Autumn says she is not ready to forgive. She backs Kenan's Law, but says it is "a slap in the face for Gypsy to be the one doing it." She is also angry that Blanchard used Aurora's picture in the petition.
The Mail has contacted Blanchard's representatives. A friend of both told the paper: "I do not believe he would ever take his own life. He loved Aurora too much."
What was the last night like?
Autumn says she spoke to her brother by phone the night before his birthday. He seemed fine. She told him the kids would FaceTime him the next day, and he said, "Alright, have them call me."
Blanchard's tribute the next day read: "You will always be my greatest love story."
Autumn says police told her that because of who Blanchard is, "they're not leaving any stone unturned." The toxicology results are still to come.
