GTA 6 leak is back: Cyberleek drops 25 minutes of new footage five weeks before launch

The leaker went quiet for weeks. Then a poll appeared, a countdown ran out, and a 370MB file landed online. Here is what people say is inside.

Key points
  • The new file is said to hold about 25 minutes of gameplay
  • Every earlier leak showed Jason. This one reportedly shows Lucia
  • Take-Two has gone to a New York court to unmask the leaker

Twenty-five minutes.

That is how much new GTA 6 footage a leaker known as Cyberleek is said to have dropped on 8 October. It came as a ZIP file of more than 370MB, with a cheeky name: "Extended Leek".

It landed after weeks of silence. And it landed just five weeks before the most hyped game in years is due in shops.

Searches for "cyberleek gta leaks" jumped past 5,000 in Canada alone in a day, according to Google Trends. Fans everywhere are asking the same three things. What is in it? Is it real? And can Rockstar do anything about it now?

What is in the new GTA 6 leak?

Gaming site Dexerto reports that the new video runs about 25 minutes. That is far longer than the short clips Cyberleek posted in August.

One viewer's description, shared online and quoted by Dexerto, lists what the video is said to show:

  • Story cutscenes and full missions
  • Street racing through Vice City
  • A rowdy off-road "thrillbilly mud club"
  • Car tuning and modding

Then there is the detail most headlines led with. According to Dexerto, Jason runs around the whole video with no clothes on. Lucia is shown wearing only bikini bottoms.

It is not the first time skin has come up. A leak on 24 August showed what looked like a nudist community in the game. When Cyberleek later ran a poll on what to leak next, "Nudist Town" won with 71% of the vote, according to posts reported by Soap Central.

Why does it matter that Lucia is in the GTA 6 leak?

Lucia is one of the game's two main characters. Yet in August, every leaked clip showed Jason. Not one showed her.

That gap started a popular fan theory, reported by TechRadar. People guessed the leaker only had a cut-down build of the game that held just the opening chapter, before Lucia joins the story.

If the new video really does show Lucia in missions, that theory takes a hit. It would mean whoever has the footage can reach more of the game than fans first thought. And that would mean more story spoilers could be out there.

Who is Cyberleek?

Nobody knows. Cyberleek is an anonymous person or group. Gfinity Esports says it could be a hacker, a former Rockstar worker or simply someone with good contacts.

The first clips appeared on 18 August. They showed Jason playing basketball, driving at night, fighting guards and stealing trucks. Later clips showed the nine1nine nightclub and a police chase through Vice City. By the end of August there were more than a dozen clips, plus what was said to be a picture of the full map.

The leaks so far, step by step:

Date (2026) What happened
18 August First Cyberleek clips appear online
20 August Take-Two asks a New York court for subpoenas
24 August A clip shows an apparent nudist area
26 August Rockstar calls the leaks "heartbreaking"
27 August Rockstar's official extended look premieres on Netflix
5 October A new poll appears on Cyberleek's website
8 October The 25-minute "Extended Leek" file spreads online
19 November GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S

Why is Cyberleek leaking GTA 6?

Cyberleek calls it a protest. The group says it is angry about digital-only games, preorders and in-game spending.

The big target is the physical box. Gfinity reports that the boxed copy of GTA 6 comes without a disc, only a code to download the game. Cyberleek says that proves a game can leak even with nothing on a shelf.

Every leaked clip carries a watermark for a crypto memecoin called $CYBERLEEK. Gfinity says that is meant to push people towards the coin. So the protest and the promotion are hard to pull apart. Forum users have guessed the coin earned tens of thousands of dollars in fees, though Cyberleek has never confirmed any figure.

Is the GTA 6 leak real?

Nobody can say for sure yet. Dexerto says the new footage has not been verified. It is also not clear if the 8 October file even came from the same person or group as the August clips.

Gfinity reported that some clips going around in August were made with AI, while others looked genuine. A fake account also pretended to be Cyberleek on Discord, and the real leaker had to deny it.

So the question hangs in the air. Is this a real slice of the finished game, an old test build, or something stitched together? Until Rockstar speaks, fans are left to judge each frame for themselves.

What has Rockstar said about the leaks?

Rockstar stayed quiet for about a week in August. Then, on 26 August, it posted a statement on Instagram.

It called the leaks "heartbreaking for our team". It said this was not how it wanted fans to see the game after so long. It apologised for how long official news had taken and asked fans to wait until 19 November to play it properly.

The next day, its official extended look at the game went out on Netflix as planned.

On the new October footage, Rockstar has said nothing so far, Dexerto reports.

Can Take-Two find the GTA 6 leaker?

It is trying hard. On 20 August, Rockstar's parent company Take-Two asked a federal court in New York for subpoenas. A subpoena is a legal order to hand over information.

The orders were aimed at Microsoft and Discord, and reportedly others. Take-Two wanted records that could reveal who runs the Cyberleek accounts, such as emails, IP addresses and phone numbers. Both companies had until 4 September to respond.

Microsoft's Xbox tech chief, Scott Van Vliet, said the company was "working closely with Take-Two and Rockstar Games", according to GamesIndustry.biz.

Some people worry about where this goes. Malwarebytes warned that thousands of Discord users with no link to the leaks could have their details swept up. Court filings have called the hunt "rapidly evolving", Dexerto says.

Rockstar has also sent copyright takedown notices to pull clips off social media. A 25-minute file is harder to chase down, because every copy has to be found one by one.

Will the leak delay GTA 6?

No sign of it. Rockstar's own statement asked fans to wait for 19 November, and that date still stands. Preorders are still open on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

Rockstar has been here before. In 2022, a hacker leaked about 90 videos and 50 minutes of early GTA 6 footage, Soap Central notes. The game kept going, and the release date held.

When does GTA 6 come out?

GTA 6 comes out on 19 November 2026. That is five weeks from now.

Until then, the leaker can keep teasing and the lawyers can keep digging. Fans get to choose: Watch the leaks, or hold out for the real thing.

A few leaked minutes, however wild, are not the same as a whole Vice City to run around in. In five weeks, everyone gets the keys, and nobody needs a ZIP file to see Lucia.
