GTA 6 radio stations revealed: Flash FM is back, Slayer runs a metal station and amapiano made the cut

Six stations, a returning Vice City classic, Black Sabbath on the dial and a South African sound nobody saw coming. Fans have been yelling their favourites all day.

Key points
  • A Vice City favourite is back after more than 20 years
  • Two members of Slayer reportedly host the metal station
  • A South African amapiano hit made the first preview

"Flash FM 4 LIFE!"

That was one of the first replies after Rockstar Games opened the radio dial for GTA 6 on 8 October. Within hours, fans were shouting their picks in capital letters. "DIRTY SOUTH CLASSICS." "METAL MUSIC AAAH YES."

Rockstar added a music section to its official GTA 6 website and named the first six radio stations. Each one comes with its DJs, a short audio preview and a taste of the songs. The company says this is its biggest and widest range of in-game radio and podcasts yet.

Many players spend half their time in GTA just driving around, so this is huge news. Here is every station, who hosts it, and the songs people can't stop talking about.

What radio stations are in GTA 6?

These are the six Rockstar has shown so far. Its site says the full game runs from classic rock to talk radio, so more are coming.

Station Music DJs One song in the preview
Flash FM Pop Robyn and Alex MGMT, "Electric Feel"
The Chamber 106.6 Metal DJ Kerry and DJ Tom Slayer, "Raining Blood"
Afro Bank FM Amapiano, African classics, 3-step Burna and Palmsy DJ Lag and Robot Boii feat. Kamo Mphela, "Shay'sana"
Cocoteo Modern Latin El Martillo and La Gata Bad Bunny, "EoO"
Back Country Outlaw country MW and Delta Dawne Loretta Lynn, "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin'"
Dirty South Classics Rap and hip-hop classics Trick and Trina DJ Khaled feat. Trick Daddy, Rick Ross and Pitbull, "Born N Raised"

You can also listen in two ways. The radio plays in cars, and Jason and Lucia can play it through earbuds on their in-game phones. There are on-demand podcasts too, so you can walk around Leonida with a talk show in your ears.

The game itself lands on 19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

Is Flash FM in GTA 6?

Yes, and that is why the oldest fans went wild.

Flash FM was the pop station in GTA Vice City back in 2002. For a lot of players, it is the sound of that whole game. Now it is back as "a Vice City institution", in Rockstar's words, more than 20 years later.

The new Flash FM is hosted by Swedish pop star Robyn, who plays herself, and Alex, voiced by model Alex Consani, according to the music site Consequence. The preview includes Charli xcx, MGMT, and Zara Larsson with PinkPantheress.

The real-life Miami that Vice City copies still loves loud, glossy pop. And the fight over how GTA 6 looks has been going for weeks. A station that sounds like 2002 and 2026 at the same time gives old and new fans something to agree on.

Who are the DJs on The Chamber 106.6?

Rockstar only lists them as DJ Kerry and DJ Tom. Fans think they know exactly who that is.

Consequence and Metal Injection report that the DJs are voiced by Kerry King and Tom Araya of Slayer. Slayer is one of the "big four" of thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.

The tagline on Rockstar's site is simple: "Crushing metal has landed in Leonida." The preview has Black Sabbath, Pantera and Slayer's own "Raining Blood".

That last song has history. "Raining Blood" was also on V-Rock in GTA Vice City. One fan summed up the mood perfectly. Black Sabbath? Pantera? Slayer? "The Chamber is SICK!"

Now metal fans get a station run, it seems, by a band that helped invent the sound.

Is there amapiano in GTA 6?

There is, and South African fans noticed straight away. "Amapiano & 3 Step officially in GTA VI," one reply read.

Afro Bank FM is the African music station. Rockstar describes it as amapiano, African classics, 3-step and more, with the tagline "Turn up the gbedu". Gbedu is Nigerian slang for music with a big beat.

The hosts are Burna and Palmsy. Consequence reports that Burna is voiced by Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Nigerian star.

But the biggest surprise for South Africans is in the preview. Next to Nigerian star Asake and Ghanaian highlife legend Pat Thomas sits "Shay'sana", by DJ Lag and Robot Boii with Kamo Mphela. All three are South African.

DJ Lag is a Durban producer known for gqom, the dark, heavy club sound from KwaZulu-Natal. Kamo Mphela is one of the best-known faces of amapiano. And 3-step, the newer South African sound in the station's description, is one DJ Lag helped push.

Amapiano grew up in the townships of Gauteng in the mid-2010s. It is built on log drum bass and slow, rolling piano. Now it is playing on car radios in the most hyped game on the planet.

What songs are in the GTA 6 soundtrack?

The stations are only half of it. Rockstar also announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, with 34 original tracks, out on 19 November alongside the game.

Six singles are listed already:

  • "That's It" by Yung Lean, with Future and Metro Boomin
  • "RHYNO" by Travis Scott
  • "Sexy Magic" by CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy
  • "Last Thing You Need" by Morgan Wallen
  • "Macacoa 2000" by Rauw Alejandro
  • "Bright Lights, Big City" by Keith Richards

That mix of trap, country, Latin and a Rolling Stone matches the radio dial. GTA 6 is going wide on purpose.

Who hosts the other GTA 6 stations?

The other three stations have big names too.

On Cocoteo, the Latin station, Consequence reports that El Martillo is voiced by Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican superstar. Its tagline is "El party que nunca se apaga", Spanish for "the party that never switches off". The preview has bachata, merengue, dembow and reggaeton.

Back Country is "airboat-ready renegade country". Consequence reports its hosts as MW, voiced by Morgan Wallen, and Delta Dawne, voiced by Lana Del Rey. A third character, a swamp weather reporter called Mud Dog Mike, broadcasts from an airboat in the Grassrivers. He is reportedly voiced by Lana Del Rey's husband, Jeremy Dufrene.

Then there is Dirty South Classics, with Trick and Trina. Those are Miami rap royalty Trick Daddy and Trina, who both come from the city Vice City is built on. The preview includes DJ Khaled's "Born N Raised", a love letter to Miami that features Trick Daddy himself.

Fans spotted other things in the new pictures too. One reply was just "Gahdamn they even got a Honda civic in the game." Another joked that a building under construction in the shot is never going to be finished. Rockstar fans zoom in on everything.

Why the GTA 6 radio matters so much

In GTA, the radio is how millions of people remember the games.

Ask anyone who played Vice City about Flash FM, or GTA San Andreas about Radio Los Santos. They can still name the songs. The DJs became characters, and the ads became running jokes.

GTA 6 has been waiting 13 years to follow GTA 5, which came out in 2013. With six stations shown, A-list voices behind the mic and Rockstar promising more, the soundtrack is shaping up as big as the game.

And for the first time, a kid in Soweto can steal a car in Vice City, flick to Afro Bank FM and hear a Durban producer come through the speakers. Turn up the gbedu.
