GTA 6 release date: 19 November 2026, plus unlock times, price and everything we know

GTA 6 comes out on Thursday, 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games set that date on 6 November 2025. It has not moved since.

That is about six weeks away. In one big PS5 fan group on Facebook, a post that just said "GTA6 IS NEXT MONTH" pulled in 459 comments. It also asked the question on everyone's mind: Who is calling off work?

Which date is GTA 6 coming out?

GTA 6 comes out on 19 November 2026. Rockstar said so in a short letter on its Newswire on 6 November 2025.

"We are sorry for adding additional time," the studio wrote. It said the extra months would let the team finish the game with the polish fans expect.

That date has been repeated many times since then. Take-Two, the company that owns Rockstar, said on 21 May 2026 that the game was still on for 19 November. It said the same again in August. Rockstar's pre-order page and the Xbox store both show the same day.

Is GTA 6 delayed to November 2026?

Yes. November 2026 is the new date, and GTA 6 has been delayed twice to get there. At first it was meant to come out in autumn 2025. On 2 May 2025, Rockstar pushed it to 26 May 2026. Then in November 2025 it moved again, to 19 November.

Could it slip one more time? Some fans online still joke about a "last second pushback". Polygon puts the chance at very low, though not zero. It points out that Rockstar usually makes its final delays months ahead, as it did with Red Dead Redemption 2. GTA 6 got its last delay a full year before launch.

What time does GTA 6 come out in my country?

On PlayStation, GTA 6 is expected to unlock at midnight local time in each region. That means it rolls around the world like New Year's Eve.

Fan site GTAVice.net checked PlayStation Store data for 15 regions. Digital Foundry reported that the times stretch across 19 hours. New Zealand goes first. Mexico and Central America go last.

These times follow the midnight local pattern in the PlayStation Store data. Rockstar has not posted an official list. If you pre-ordered on PS5, the store shows a countdown to the second.

Xbox may be different. Fans say Xbox games are not locked to one region, so setting an Xbox to New Zealand time could let you start early. Digital Foundry even asked readers if they would become an "honorary Kiwi" to play early. On PS5, fans say the trick only works if you bought the game in that country's store.

Can you pre-load GTA 6?

Yes. If you pre-ordered the digital version, you can pre-load from 12 November, a full week early.

There is no disc at launch. The boxed version holds a download code instead, and it goes on sale on 12 November too, so those buyers can pre-load as well. Anyone who buys or pre-orders before 20 November gets the Vintage Vice City Pack of bonus items. Digital pre-orders also get a free month of GTA+.

Pre-orders opened at midnight local time on 25 June 2026.

How much will GTA 6 cost?

The standard game is $79.99 in the US. Here is what each edition costs on the Xbox store.

In South Africa, tech site Stuff reported pre-order prices of R1,500 for the standard game and R1,900 for the Ultimate Edition. Store prices can change, so check before you pay.

Will GTA 6 be $200?

No, not the game itself. The $200 talk started with a retailer leak before pre-orders opened. It pointed to a collector's edition at about $190 to $200.

The real standard price turned out to be $79.99. The only GTA 6 product that goes past $200 is the collector's box, reported at $399.99. And that box does not even include the game.

Is GTA 6 coming to PS4 or PC?

Not to PS4. GTA 6 is only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Rockstar has not announced a PC version at all. Xbox has also ruled out a back door. Its chief strategy officer, Matthew Ball, said the game "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC".

So when could PC players get it? GameSpot's best guess is early 2028, about 15 to 18 months after consoles. That guess comes from Rockstar's past, not from a leak. PC players have waited a long time before.

There is a good reason fans expect PC to come. Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick says PC can now make up 45 to 50% of a big game's sales. Twitch boss Dan Clancy also let slip that GTA 6 multiplayer could arrive in 2027. Some think online play might come out before the PC version.

What is happening on 19 October?

19 October marks one month to go. Polygon thinks Rockstar might use that day to say the game has "gone gold". That is the industry term for a game that is finished and approved for release. It often happens about a month before launch.

Fans are also convinced that trailer 3 is close. A new YouTube banner from Rockstar reads, "There's more to GTA VI on YouTube." Many hoped the trailer would drop on 8 October. That day brought the first six radio stations and their DJs instead. A Spotify slip-up had already shown that Cardi B and Fuerza Regida are on the soundtrack.

Will trailer 3 land on 19 October? Rockstar is not saying. Fans have the date circled anyway.

Is there a GTA 6 Netflix special?

Yes, but it is not a series. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on 27 August at 3pm Eastern time. It went up on YouTube and Rockstar's site six hours later. It was the first big look at the game since the second trailer in May 2025.

Where is GTA 6 set, and how big is the map?

GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, a state based on Florida. It brings back Vice City, the series' version of Miami, set in the present day. Rockstar calls Leonida "sprawling", but it has not given a map size.

Previews in Game Informer described a detailed weather system and lots of wildlife. Notebookcheck reports more than 170 animal species, wild monkeys included. Not everyone loves the look so far. One shot of a Vice City highway has fans arguing about a graphics downgrade.

Who are Lucia and Jason in GTA 6?

GTA 6 has two main characters, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Rockstar's story blurb says an easy score goes wrong and drops them on "the darkest side of the sunniest place in America". They end up caught in a criminal plot that stretches across the state.

The Netflix special focused on the couple, and reports say the two can even break up. Other faces from Rockstar's art include Cal Hampton, a conspiracy theorist, plus Boobie Ike, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder. At launch, GTA 6 is a single-player game.

What has leaked about GTA 6?

A lot. Since August, a leaker has posted clips said to show real gameplay. Take-Two went to a court in New York. It asked GitHub and Discord to hand over details of accounts sharing the clips.

The leaker is back now. A new file said to hold about 25 minutes of footage, Lucia included, spread online on 8 October. Experts told the BBC the leaks will not derail the game. IGN's Wesley Yin-Poole said they will become "a footnote" in the game's story.

How long until GTA 6 comes out?

About six weeks. Pre-load opens on 12 November, and the game unlocks a week later.

New Zealand players start first. In South Africa, that is 1pm on Wednesday 18 November. South Africans get their own turn at midnight, and the UK follows two hours later. America wakes up to it the next morning.

GTA 5 came out in September 2013. By launch day, fans will have waited more than 13 years for the next one. Charge the controller and book that leave.
