Key points
  • Allegra Styles, 14, was last seen in Kamma Park on 8 October
  • She wore a beige top and blue jeans
  • Police ask for tips, not guesses

Allegra Styles is 14 years old. She was last seen at about 18:00 on Thursday, 8 October 2026, in Kamma Park, Gqeberha.

Five days later, police are still looking for her.

If you have seen her or know where she is, call Lt Col Plaatjies on 071 352 4542 (+27 71 352 4542) or Walmer SAPS on 082 303 0345. You can also call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or send a tip through the MySAPS app without giving your name.

Has Allegra Styles been found?

Not yet, as far as any official report shows. The latest police update, published on 11 October, said officers had visited several addresses and spoken to people who know her. Those efforts had not led them to her yet.

We will update this page the moment police say she is safe.

Her case is being handled by Walmer SAPS together with the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. That unit, known as FCS, works on cases where a child may be at risk.

Where was Allegra Styles last seen?

In Kamma Park, a suburb in the west of Gqeberha. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says a family member told police that Allegra went to Kamma Park to go to a party.

According to the police statement, the relative said this came after an alleged argument with her boyfriend. Police say neither of them has been seen since.

Police have not named anyone else in the case. They have not said that anyone is a suspect. Their only public ask is for information about where Allegra is.

What was Allegra wearing when she went missing?

The Walmer SAPS poster says she was last seen wearing a beige top and blue jeans.

The poster describes her as a female, 14 years old. In the photo on the poster she has long, light brown hair. The police case reference on the poster is 1/10/2026.

That outfit is plain. Thousands of people in Gqeberha wear something like it every day. That is exactly why small memories matter here. A girl in a beige top near a party in Kamma Park that Thursday night may be the detail police need.

How long has Allegra been missing? The timeline so far

This is every confirmed step, in order, from the police poster and the police statement.

That is two days between the last sighting and the report to police. Police have not said why. It is a reminder that families often search on their own first, hoping a child is with a friend.

Who do I call if I have seen Allegra Styles?

Call the people on the poster first. They are the ones working the case.

Do you have to wait 24 hours to report a missing child in South Africa?

No. This is one of the most common myths, and it costs time.

There is no waiting period in South African law. SAPS and Missing Children South Africa have both said this again and again. You can open a missing person case at any police station the moment you know a child is gone.

Take a recent, clear photo. Know what the child was wearing and where they were last seen. Police will ask you to fill in a SAPS 55(A) form, which also lets them share the photo with the public. Leave the station with the case number and the investigating officer's name and number.

Missing Children South Africa says the first hours are the most important. Memories are fresh, phones still have messages and video footage has not been deleted yet. The Western Cape alone recorded 98 missing children in the first six months of 2026, according to Weekend Argus.

What is the age of consent in South Africa?

The age of consent in South Africa is 16. This is set by the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act of 2007.

In 2015 the law changed after a Constitutional Court ruling. Consensual sexual acts between two children aged 12 to 15 are no longer a crime. The age of consent did not drop. Sexual acts between an adult and a child under 16 remain a crime, even if the child says yes. A child under 12 cannot consent at all.

This is the general law. It is not a finding about anyone in this case. Police have made no such claim.

How do you share a missing child post without hurting the search?

Allegra's poster ends with three words in capital letters: Please share responsibly.

Her case spread fast online this week. Many people shared her poster to help. Others filled the replies with guesses, rumours and hateful comments about race and religion. None of that helps police find a 14-year-old.

Here is what does help:

  • Share the official police poster, not screenshots of her private photos.
  • Keep the police numbers in your post, so tips go to the right place.
  • Do not guess about who she is with or why. Rumours send people looking in the wrong place.
  • Never post anyone's home address, or call people out by name.
  • Before you share again, check that she is still missing.
  • When police say she has been found, delete your post or update it.

Remember that a real family reads every comment. So might Allegra.

We are not linking to the private photos that went around with her poster, and we are not repeating the comments. If you want to help a stranger the way South Africans did for a gogo caught searching for food in Shoprite, the poster and the phone numbers are the tool.

Someone in Gqeberha may already know where she is

Search teams can knock on doors. They cannot see what you saw on a Thursday evening in Kamma Park.

Somebody was at that party. Somebody gave a lift, sold a cold drink, or saw a girl in a beige top and blue jeans walk past a gate after 18:00. That person may not know yet that their memory is the one that matters.

If that is you, or you think it might be, make the call today.
